LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

It definitely helps to have worked there and know which register to go to! :D Do you find it strange to go back into Walmart having worked there? I worked for The Family Dollar for 2 years in the town here, after I quit, (and I gave notice and left on good terms), I just couldn't go back in there to shop! I think it was 3 years later I finally got brave and went back in, I just felt to weird.
On the contrary. I made friends with pretty much everyone there before I was fired, so I like to go around and chat everyone up. I also know the tricks that employees have, and so I can use them to my advantage (like, they all know never to tell me that they do not keep certain things stocked out back, because I helped wade through that crap and organize it, and I know how often it gets shipped to the store). If the employee is new, I tell them where to check out back for what I want. 9 times out of 10 they will bring me back the product. I also know the ins and outs of the self checkout, so I when a machine runs out of receipt paper I can actually help the employees change it because I know how to open the machines, and I know how to do an override. Walmart is not good at thoroughly training its employees, so most of those that watch those areas are new to it and do not know how to do a lot of things.

And if I go into the store in a mood, then I know exactly how to make the employees hate life, even more than bringing them an attitude (they are all well accustomed to that, and most will throw it back at you).

I can be petty sometimes, but as I am friends with most of them, and because my brother still works in the store, I try my best to behave. 😂

 Too funny! I've thought about working at Walmart, ALMOST filled out an application. Is it a decent place to work or is it a sweatshop atmosphere? I refuse to go unload trucks and do ridiculous jobs because I have down time. :D

It all depends on which department you would work, and who your Team Lead/Coach would be. I found the job to be amazing. I loved all of the Team Leads, and my coach was funny and helpful (after he warmed up to me). We regularly got pulled to help unload the truck because our store is/was extremely understaffed. But you can always put your foot down and say no. I learned early on that is very unwise to say no to too many tasks, though. And downtime is not really a thing. There is always something to do. I would definitely recommend it if you are a people person, or if you can fake it like I did/do, and if you are ok with learning to take the brunt of complaints with a smile (it is the funnest if you learn to face off with Karens and Kevins with a wicked grin) and a "polite" attitude. I put quotations around that because my politeness leans more toward snarky and rude and very inappropriate. 😂

My brother stocks freezers at night. He likes it

That's the thing, I'm really not a people person. I've always done jobs where I work by myself with the exception of a few jobs where I was in direct contact. So yeah, I'm trying to avoid jobs like this, but at the same time I could use the cash. :D I will think on it.

But it sounds like you really enjoyed the job, maybe you should go back?! Why did you get fired? :D They should be able to over look a firing or is Walmart too good for that?

Now THIS I could do but I'm not a night owl, so... 💤

But glad your brother likes it, I've heard the pay is really good for night stockers!
My brother is definitely a night owl. I kinda am (staying up is hard for me though cause I have to get up super early)

He makes more than me and my mom do, but we both have pretty low paying jobs. I think he makes around 20 bucks an hour, so not too much more than normal in my town

Yes this is what I've heard, $20 bucks an hour. I have always had to get up early too so I go to bed early as well. Never developed the night owl style. I'd be asleep on the job by 11pm if I worked the night shift. :gig

I am not allowed back as an employee. I made a mistake, and I accept it. The fact that I am not banned from the store means that I had not stolen, and I was not violent.

Oh, I am most definitely not a people person, but I can fake it. I loved being able to help people that were kind and polite. Several times though, I would see customers helping strangers with things, and being courteous to each other, but then they would come over and treat me not so pleasantly. I went out of my way to be nice to them, because I appreciated the humanity that they showed to the strangers around them. I did not mind that I got the bad attitude, so long as they showed everyone else their good side. People do not seem to realize that employees do take note of how customers treat each other, and it goes a long way toward getting good service. And there were enough bad eggs that we got to unload some of our frustration on to hold us over. And it is easy to make friends with your coworkers; they are just real-life versions of BYC people. 😂 If you do not wish to work so much with customers, maybe try maintenance, or night crew. Most stores desperately need overnight stockers. Just say no to front end! You will quit within a week if you choose to work the front!

As for the pay, our store is up to $16 an hour for starting pay. It is the highest paying employer in our area, with everyone else paying less than $13 an hour.

Same here. 11-11.45 is the latest I stayed up to work on my books when I was on summer leave. I can't do the whole sleeping in past 9 though l, even if I somehow stayed up and safely drove home the next morning for work
