Get a Lab. Loyal, loving, energetic. If you get a black Lab they have a bit of that scary dog factor still since a lot of people are scared of black dogs (and cats). They’re probably not super protective but they’re great dogs that fit everything else.

So I need a dog which will both be loyal, protective, good with other dogs.
And an upside is an energetic dog which will enjoy long walks and runs. (I'm experienced with large, difficult to groom, energetic dogs, so I'm not phased by much).

We had 2 Dobermans that were wonderful. We also had 2 shelters dogs who were/are wonderful. They were all solitarty dogs, though, so no having to get along with another dog.

We put sweatshirts on our dogs too!

Sorry this is late in coming, I've had the flu these past couple days, so between being sick and wrapping up the Standard-Bred Chicken Show, I'm destroyed.

Thanks so much Fluffy, fever is about 99.8, up a couple of degrees from my normal. Feel like I got run over by a semi. I should be better tomorrow. I haven't been posting much lately, in this thread either, tough couple of weeks for other reasons, but I wanted to give you a shout out on placing in the contest! I hope all is well with you, broodies, chicks, hens and roosters!
