Gender being a social construct doesn't negate the fact that gender is important. Being a trans man is important to me. I'm definitely not saying that gender wouldn't be a thing at all without societal influence. I'm critiquing our cisnormative society which presses male vs female without acknowledging that it is much deeper and more nuanced than that.

Absolutely, and I agree that binary is harmful.
You made a brilliant point when you touched on how the gender binary has been pushed, and that colonisation actually erased a lot of culture. Specifically at the hand of a white cis-het Christian narrative, which has dominated the US and made a lot of people believe in an "only two genders" narrative. And I'm not bashing religion, or cis people, it's not all of them, nor is it only them. I'm merely stating a fact about history.

And this lasting damage can be seen today. We need better education to undo that brain washing.

I truly believe that the world will reach a balance someday. That people will be educated and people will be accepted. Different isn't a bad thing.

I think so too, especially because there are so many good people fighting for it! I'm always optimistic, even when I'm tired.

It may feel like the world is falling apart right now. Our rights are going to be taken away. This is going to be a long four years. But remember this:

You are seen.
You are loved.
And you are valid.

No matter what the government says. You are real, you deserve the same rights as everyone else, and it will all be okay in the end. Hugs for everyone

Absolutely. I'm not in the US, but also send my love to everyone that is suffering right now.
This isn't forever and worthless ignorant words and legislature don't change who you are or how valid you are. Stay safe and don't stop believing in a better world
