Since we were talking about the disaster in our state of TX, yes it is so very sad. I drive past the funeral home now and notice the refrigerated trucks out back. My local media warns that we have run completely out of ICU beds. They are converting our Harlingen convention center now into a covid step down unit to free hospital beds. Governor Abbott would renew my retired nursing license in an instant to put me into a hospital, but I am not interested as I think it would be a bad idea for me. Sorry to sound so selfish about it. This "flu" as my in laws call it has me scared.

Follow on Edit- We now have a Navy medical unit deployed here and there are death committees sending people home to die with dignity and their loved ones and to free up that ICU bed.

Well, the name anyway.

Are you actually going to fill bags with corn?
Last time(well, only time) I made one, bags ended up being filled with grain mites and corn powder. Might want to make your closing seam easy to remove to change out filling.

Good note. I was actually planning on filling them with microwaved dry rice. We have some rice we KNOW has some house moths in it, we've been feeding it out to the chickens as a treat, so we were gonna microwave the rice to make sure they were good and dead and then fill them that way.

I feel confident, given over 20 years of messing up at sewing, that I can rip these seams though in case of emergency removal needs. XD The sewing itself is going smoothly so the seams should come out easy.

Then it would be called 'rice hole', eh? :gig

XD Look, neither corn nor rice grew in celtic Europe. So if I'm gonna mess it up already, why not take it as far as I want?

Make some grain free bread while I'm at it. XD (Nah, I'm making burger and sausage buns with celtic knots and sigils painted on 'em. Nomnomnom.)

Also my plywood isn't 1/2 inch thick on my cornhole board, so it can't ever be regulation anyhow. And if it isn't regulation is it really cornhole? :O

Today my flock lead an unsuccessful rebellion against me, and it ended with my pullet getting a strict talking to for tearing a tendon in my hand, and me chasing my cockerel around for forever trying to get my shoe back. Luckily, some treats caused them to decide I was decent.

Oh no! Take care of that tendon, those are annoyingly long to heal. What a rotten flock. How spoiled. Tsktsk

I went to my local Righttime after I got my shoe back, which wouldn’t be my first option but I didn’t want to take time away from doctors right now, and they gave me some pain meds and sent me home. It still hurts, even after taking the recommended amount of medicine. I’m not looking forward to the next few weeks.

They are so spoiled, but I guess that’s my fault :idunno.

@AllenK RGV , I'm really sorry you're dealing with that. It wasn't that long ago it was that bad up in NY where G's family is located. We were all pretty worried. Just gotta try to stay home, stay safe, don't touch your face and write all your local government officials. What else can you do? :( :idunno
I'm sorry if I am indicating I am dealing with it my community is. I just see the signs of disaster and take note. At some point I am going to have to go next door and see what help my next door neighbor needs as he was finally discharged from the hospital Friday evening and still hasn't gotten up the energy to make it to the fence. I know he is fine as he makes it to the porch and chats on the phone.
