Mama is like "that thing came out of my egg?!"

Advice needed.
For a few weeks, I've been thinking about the next dog I want to add. I've been doing research on the different working breeds(Their needs, work, etc) and looking on the AKC Marketplace. A few days ago, I decided that I would really love to get a puppy possibly in the next couple months once I had a stable job so that I can make sure I can take care of all the needs(food, vet, etc).
There's just one problem... I still live with my family and my dad has already stated after our current dogs pass from old age, he doesn't want any more dogs.
I know that I'm an adult but since I still live with my family, I respect if my dad approves of certain stuff.
Is there a good way to bring this up to him and possibly convince him to allow me to get a puppy by the end of the year?

Give him fresh dozens of eggs every other week. For a year. Even better if they are duck eggs. This usually works for keeping your neighbors from reporting your eight silkie roosters. It should work for you.

Not really the same thing though. This isn't a neighbor not wanting to hear another dog, this is a man who would have to share his home with an animal that he doesn't want at the moment.

I mean, I feel like this may just achieve him wanting more poultry lol!!
Unless the dog serves some purpose, like protecting the birds, then that could somehow be used as an argument for getting one
