Just had a 4 day one a couple weeks ago, due to straight line winds. We have a generator, thank goodness.

More weather geek: Straight line winds are like a tornado, without the spinning. We had 70 mph winds that snapped 6" diameter trees off 15-20 feet above the ground. I saw a 12"+ diameter tree that was pushed over.

All in all, I'd rather have a power outage when it's warm out than when it's winter.

Actually, I would just rather NOT have a power outage.

My husband is a Lineman for DTE, so whenever there are big@ss storms like the ones we had a few weeks ago, he's working non-stop! When we built our home, having a whole house generator was way up on the list of priorities. I have been so thankful for that thing so many times!! 🌬

We're supposed to be getting a cold and snowy winter this year. I am NOT looking forward to it. I really need to set up some sort of alternative power and heating...

Are you going to go with Propane? I still think you should go with a barrel stove, used. Look on line at local ads, Facebook groups, maybe even Ebay. There's got to be a used stove out there somewhere.

Admittedly I'm still stressed about making an appointment. I was going to after work today, and forgot my insurance, so it will have to wait until tomorrow now, plus I'll have to make an appointment before asking for the day off. Then I have to make sure I actually can get the day off, or reschedule and try again until I get a day that lines up for both.
