LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

What's pet quality? Aren't they all pets?
I also show and eat my birds.

Pet quality = cull quality, not good enough in type or otherwise to breed onward but could be a suitable pet for someone. I’d never rehome a bird with issues.

I once tried to explain to someone in a feed store about how culling doesn't automatically mean killing the bird and they kept saying how that wasn't true and that it was killing the bird and not rehoming them. I was like 'What? Is this person for real?' 🤣

I succumbed to the clearance dying petco betta while picking up frozen mice for my snake yesterday. Oops. Little dude was practically free and I had all the stuff to give him a shot at life, so why not? He is currently acclimating to the hospital tank and looking wayyyy better.

Hopefully you can give him a great life. So sad that they are still being kept in cups:hmm

I agree. He had been in the cup for two months and they had priced him down for a quick sale. So I don’t feel like I was buying into that too much. He’s acclimating back at home and I’m eager to check on him.

Oh my, please stay safe out there, Jen!
Oh yeah, sorry I haven't updated! Thanks, Fluffy! We got power back on that weekend, had it for Christmas and then had another outage the day after Christmas, only for the day but we didn't suffer too bad! Very grateful as I've heard a lot of roofs and un-staked structures around here did not fare well!

I hope everyone had a good Christmas/Holidays, pre-New Years!
