Lice! PLEASE HELP!

My babies in the outdoor brooder have lice! Some have just hatched today! Can I use lice dust on them or are they too young! PLEASE HELP!

Lice or mites? you can spray with tick and flea spray under wings, back of heads, and around the vents(cover them)...Mites are the devil and will kill a bird QUICK! Best of luck! I wouldnt use sevin dust on chicks...thats just me.

Little ones are alsways more sucseptible to being effected by pesticides. I have heard Adams Flea Spray works wonders. I would think anything is a risk to use at such a young age. But mites/lice are bad too. Others may now of a safe product. Clean out brooder thoroughly. Spray brooder with whatever you use on chicks and let air dry. Mites killed my neighbors full grown roo pretty quick. If noone knows of a safe product, I would treat mine and hope for the best. I would not dust, I think their lungs would be to sensitive to handle it being as they are so small. Hope someone can help you better,
