I need to dust my chickens for lice and was wondering what might be the easiest way to go about doing this. Does anyone have any suggestions? This will be my first time and I don't want to over powder them or miss any spots that are important in killing the little buggers. I want to do this right the first time. I think I read somewhere to put the powder in a sock for easy dusting? Just pat it around the bird and the dust will come out lightly?

Dump some sevin dust in a grocery bag or pillow case. Put a chicken inside the bag with it's head sticking out the top. Grab the top of the bag and enclose it around the chickens neck (head still sticking out)....then "shake and bake." (Gently roll the chicken around in the bag.)
Then pull her out of the bag and rub a little sevin dust on her neck and head area, avoid the eyes and nostrils...then release her. She'll shake herself off and go about her business.
You'll have to dust the coop as well. Put a pile of sevin dust at the entrance to the coop. Use a leaf blower and hit the pile of sevin dust at full blast. I guarantee you that every nook and cranie inside your coop will be treated for parasites, very easy to do.
Wear old clothes and a mask. Repeat all this in 7-10 days to kill external parasites hatched from eggs, effectively ending their lifecycle.

I have to laugh, but it certainly sounds effective! I'll give it a try. Thanks!
