lice!!!

HELP.....where can I find a photo of lice and mites? I don't know what my hen has but these little critters are a flesh/clear color and crawling all over her butt and vent area and the base of the feathers have the egg clumps... I covered her with Castor oil, her feathers are falling out...her butt and vent area so raw looking ... horrible. I just am not sure what I am treating. I have her in the dog carrier in the house til I can give her a bath in Dawn tomorrow and then what? What do you think they are....??????
Sevin dust will kill lice on contact. Others have used coconut oil used to remove lice eggs. You also have to treat the inside of the coop/nests/roosts using sevin dust. Then repeat dusting your birds and coop again in 7-10 days to kill lice tha were hatched from eggs.

She has lice. I don't know if castor oil will dissolve the lice exoskeleton or eggs. I know (VCO) coconut oil will quickly. Kills everything at once like like throwing water on the wicked witch.
The Hen with the Castor oil all the lice were suffocated...I oiled up another one. We cleaned out the pen and sprayed with poison and dried it out and removed all the bedding. We will do it again next week...geesh! Thank you, I may need to buy the Coconut oil, is the same kind as at the store? what is VCO?, oh, Virgin Coconut OIL...???Thanks

Thank you so much! I will use it...

is it only castor oil sprayed on the hen or do you mix it with water?
I poured it on straight and rubbed it all over her skin and feathers. Left it on her. I waited a week and gave her a bath and sprayed with all natural Poultry Protector, diluted. Seems to have done the job. I will have to grab her and check again. We also sprayed the coop 2 weeks with something like Malithion and dried it really well. She has lots of pin feathers coming in. Hopefully, we have it under control. Nasty little buggers!

Ok , im new to this chicken delicing and mites . I want the most safe product i can use... easy to apply what should i use? I do eat the chicken eggs so i not want nothing that would affect them

We used Dominion dusting powder. Wear a mask as it is really fine dust...gloves too...You hold the bird close and safely. Pluck the feathers most visibly infested with nits and dispose of away from the coop. Then put a BIT under each wing close to their 'armpit' and on the bottom by the vent. Hold the wings close to the body and put back in coop. FIRST though, clean out all the bedding and lightly dust the floor/nesting box and replace with clean bedding. Give them a good area of sand/'dust' to bathe in.... Once all the birds are done, leave for one week and redust each bird again as before...My information is you can eat the eggs, as it is not ingested.

Here are some other ideas...
