Lies Spread Quickly RP

Shyly, Tess rolled back over. Apprehensively, she looked at the man, who was nothing but old kindness and understanding. She licked her nose nervously, then sat back on her haunches with her bleeding paw out in front of her. She whined. Fix it?
Greymane leaned forward, gently grasping her foreleg so he could look at her footpad. Seeing the piece of porcelain jammed in, he squinted before grasping the edge and pulling straight out in one fluid movement.

Tess winced, whining sharply as he pulled the piece out of her paw. In a flash, she Changed back to a girl, holding her hurt had meekly. "Can I have a bandage?" she whispered, her voice hoarse with hurt.

"Yeah, let's get that covered up. I got some clean linen inside, you jus' set down an I'll get to the pump house so we can wash it up good before covering it so as to deter infection."
Greymane stood up to retrieve the water bucket and walked to the pump house first, then set the bucket down next to Tess before heading inside to tear some strips of linen.

Tess sat, numbly. Her hand hurt, but she was most struck by Greymane's kindness. She shouldn't be, she reminded herself. He was just a kindly old man - but still. He was Ulven, and there was something wise and understanding about him that went beyond words.

Greymane dug into his rag bag for a nice clean floursack, then tore several strips with a knife. He had a jar of herbal salve that he grabbed too. Satisfied, he came back outside. He handed her the clean rags to keep them off the ground and set the jar of salve down. He took the larger rag to dip into the water, to wash her hand.

Tess watched Greymane work. What had happened to his pack? They were gone, she knew that - but why? Surely this tough old man couldn't have been the cause of so many deaths?
She watched him dip the rag into the water. "Is this going to hurt?" she asked him quietly. She bit her lip, waiting for an answer.

(Sorry I haven't been here recently, I've been making a fox RP)

"It might, but we gotta wash the dirt out good. I seen gangrene b'fore, an it ain't pretty."
He gently dabbed the wound with the moistened rag.
