After continuing on for several hours, nearly everything was planted, albeit a bit haphazardly. Greymane stopped suddenly, catching whiff of an elk nearby. His eyes flashed, and his nose worked. He nearly forgot his task. He yipped to get Tess's attention, and, with every muscle coiled like a spring, he was off, covering ground, closing the gap between predator and prey. It was lingering just on the edge of the wood. His tounge lolled out as he stretched his legs.

Tess was after him like a bullet, streaking over the ground to catch up to him. The smell of elk was in her nostrils; it made her reckless, wild. Tess caught sight of the elk too, and she let out a frenzied yip. The instinct to eat whatever she could was still left over from her time on the streets (Time that would resume soon, she thought doggedly), and the desire to hunt was in her blood.
Tess's tail streamed out behind her like a flag, and she ran.

Tess caught sight of the elk too, and she let out a frenzied yip. The instinct to eat whatever she could was still left over from her time on the streets (Time that would resume soon, she thought doggedly), and the desire to hunt was in her blood. 
Tess's tail streamed out behind her like a flag, and she ran. 

The elk stood up, glancing at the noise. It started, then jumped into the woods. Greymane veered to one side, attempting to cut off the elk's escape.

Tess tried to help Greymane flank the elk, snapping at its heels. At last, it darted away from the woods, and the chase was on! Tess stretched her legs, streaming after the elk.
