Life from the Parsonage - A Journal of our Journey.

We have 13 sweet little baby chicks from this batch. 5 eggs still nothing from that batch....I'm waiting on those another day at least. I have 12 viable eggs from the 24 eggs my mom gave me...today was day 18 for them

I have the 12 eggs from silkieluvr sitting nicely in the other incubator. Hoping for great results with all. I am truly enjoying the chicks...I'm not going to hatch anymore till later in the summer (

We've got campmeetings and youthcamps coming up...plus weddings in my family...got a picture of the dress for my little girl, angelic

Plus the showers, revivals, parties, rallies, & fellowship meetings we have... I've got to get these big enough that one of our church members can check on them ever little bit and have a big feeder and automatic waterer....am looking for ideas????
I'm making the cake for a baby shower Sat. and I've got no idea of what I want to do..... try something new.
Plus, if it will ever stop raining...we've got to get the grass mowed! I'm tired of it getting my knees wet!

So I'm signing off for the week-end! (Will try to check back in when eggs start hatching Sunday...Sunday's are hectic for me...

Oh yes, the floors are finished here at the parsonage, and I love them! My son is sooo much better. While we look like Martians from the short walk from the parsonage to the church due to the pollen (green, green) the flowers are beginning to bloom, dogwoods are shimmering and the trees frogs & toads are coming out of hiding
barnie.gif
though the mosquitoes are not bad yet...
Hey, that's a thought....will too many mosquitoes make chickens sick? We don't have mosquitoes like this where I came from...
We literally line up at the door, make sure everyone is ready to rush up the steps & in, slam the door and grab the flyswat to kill any that came in...and of course toss out the frogs that hopped in when you opened the door, oh in case your curious...I live in EYGPT!
barnie.gif
Seriously, it has been an adjustment.
Oh, I'm so excited...I'm hoping to get to go to the Isaacs Concert! (They are bluegrass gospel) Great, great! And we are going to have game night again at church, I play a mean mexican train!
My goodness, I sound like my husband, I'm closing, I'm closing....he he he....(don't tell him I said it!

) (You know, his sermons!)
What a sweetheart!
This time I really am closing! Hope ya'll have a lovely week-end! Take Care.

I have been heartsick all day. Just plain "ill". It's been raining for weeks now! You have a dry day or two...it pours for 3 straight and then dry....but it doesn't dry out the ground!
Anyway....raining...electricity went off this morning...and it is cold! Really Cold. I turned the heat on. Should have been fine...but the temp kept dropping in the bators...
I moved the "styrofoam" bators close to the stove...HINT**
The phone rang (as always) I was talking...smelt something...one of the bators the front just shriveled! It had my 12 eggs on day 19 in them. Scooted them back...thought all was well.....I was stressed but, well nothing I could do.
barnie.gif

A coupla hours later electricity flickered back on (that made 4 hours total)...and I began to take the bators back to their tables...slipped on water (cause it's RAINING!) and dropped the bator. These were the eggs from Silkieluvr. I have one egg that did not break, I candled it...and it is a viable egg. Only 4 other eggs were viable....out of the 12. Who knows.
he.gif

I'm just so very upset....My husband told me how to work the melted bator...it's working...actually holding steady; this is where the little lonely banty egg is.
fl.gif

And the 12 eggs on day 19 are sitting in the good bator...and I have no clue how they will turn out. Just thought I would update on this 'day'. (No sounds of peeping)

Edited to add: I meant nothing bad about silikieluvr. Her shipping was impeccable and she is a great person to deal with.

my dear, I was trying to p.m. you but your in box is full. LOL Just want you to know that following your posts brings forth lots of emotions and lots of chuckles ..though for you some of those mishaps are not funny...you should compile your posts into a book. My prayers are with you daily.

Oh I am so sorry! How strange about only 4 of the 12 being viable...I have had mostly 100% hatches from these eggs...If you'd like I'd be happy to resend some eggs. How about in a few weeks? I'm kind of full with orders right now but I have an opening in like 3 weeks if that works for you, it really would be no problem for me.

This is the first time I've happened across this post, and I have to say, after reading it from beginning to end, how wonderful! What a fun read.

I'm so sorry about your eggs. I'm incubating right now, as well, and I know the excitement you feel, as well as the disappointment.

Thanks for sharing-
Em

Thank you for your kind comments and prayers.
A little humor has come into this day...in the form of my husband...(imagine that?
roll.png
) He came in...saw I was typing....and he read that post about his sermons....
ep.gif

Needless to say he didn't really see any humor in his "closing" techniques. (I'll let ya know if he changes his Sunday Sermons!

Howdy!
I went to church this morning with no sign, or sound, of chicks....came in from church...and one had pipped! All afternoon watching, watching....(I thought I had killed all these poor babies!) Before church tonight...I spotted another pip...and when I came in one more. A total of 3 eggs pipping out of the 12 which got to close to the stove!
And of course suffered through drastic temp drops before...overheating!
barnie.gif

They are not hatched yet, but I'm so hoping

Am turning the one little banty egg...goodness those things are tiny. And have high hopes for that egg!

Would you like to know what my husband preached on this morning?....good, I'm gonna tell you! Marriage! I sat there and some parts were hilarious...really they were, some were just a tad embarressing, and others...I was very interested in counting the cracks in the wall behind the piano! Preachers tend to use their family for material...examples...
he.gif

He's a fine preacher, so proud of him. He has a heart for people, they respond so well to him. Our children could have no finer example.

Oh, and he closed only once today!
wink.png

I went and checked the eggs before I pressed post...I think I heard a sound! Pretty certain!

Well thanks again for listening, and all the wonderful support. It has been a long week-end, I have no complaints beyond my own ineptness at being able to walk on the two feet God gave me.
th.gif

Will take pictures of the hatch...I'm trying to have faith that they will hatch!

I'm so happy you have some pips. Hopefully by morning you'll have some chicks.

I understand about the embarrassing moments a preacher puts families in my brother use to do that all the time. I told him I quit visiting his church because he always use me as an example. Most of his churches know me as "baby sister" One time one of his church members moved to our area and joined our church and never could get my name right. He called me Sis. baby sister!!

Keep us updated.
