Read about half the posts, and I am so happy Ray has made it so far and you both are finally happily married, I know it's hard watching a loved one in such a health situation as Ray's but it will make you stronger in the end and also give you more empathy and able to support friends and family in the future if they experience similar situations....

Congrats!!!! You made it. I kept the name with which I was born. Well, two people took a long time to pick a first name that actually matched my last name and I had no confidence that I could do better. Besides I didn't want to be writing my last name in pencil. I ask young newly married girls, "why would you want to change your name? You only have a 50% chance that you won't divorce and name changes are such a hassle (social security, driver's license, credit cards, passport, deeds,bank accounts) to name a few." In your case, I understand that it is a more permanent arrangement, though. LOL.
