Life is changing for us, and it is not for a positive reason

If I lived near you, I'd mow your yard. I LOVE mowing!!!! It's bout to kill me not being able to mow my yard and my parents yard for the past 3 weeks. Weather!! Weatherman says one thing, Mother Nature does another. lol..Going to mow them in about an hour. Waiting for the sun to go behind the hill first.

It's pathetic that people say they will do something for someone that NEEDS it done, and then doesn't show up. Hope you get someone reliable soon!

He started it this morning and got one row done and the bag was full, so he had to stop. I lined up DD's fiance and DS and didn't tell each other that the other was lined up. Fiance (Ronnie) showed up at 9:30 and finished it. DS came at 12:30 and I made him vacuum and finish pulling weeds.

What is even more pathetic is these are our KIDS that are not showing up!! I am ready to strangle them all.

oh my! That's really sad. They shouldn't have to be asked to come help. I'm 44 and live across the field from my parents. I'm over there almost every day to see if they need anything. I mowed their yard a little bit ago...was gonna do mine too but..ahem...Mother Nature struck again!

It started pouring before I could make it back to the garage to put the mower up.

I'd help you out too if I lived closer..in the mean time,

and hope things start getting better for y'all soon!!!

I think the issue is denial. He is the same guy, he just can't DO things like he used to be able to. I think that they think if they stay away they will not see his decline. However, the more they stay away the more pronounced his decline is. It is best that they accept reality, deal with it in their own way.

I know he is dying. I am not sure I accept that yet, but I DO know one thing - these kids are going to regret it if they don't start coming around more. I have told them that too.

Yes, they will. And it is not good to walk around with regret. I know from experience. I pray they will start coming over more.

I just wonder how many more times I have to tell them that before it finally sinks in. Ken is able to be up and around right now. Slow yes, but he is up. I hope they don't wait til he isn't up anymore.

My dad has knee problems and some days he can't get out of bed. Course he also weighs almost 300 lbs. The doc has him losing weight but his knees are so far gone, he is looking at total knee replacements for both knees. My mom is letting her health problems go to look after my dad. She gets winded just walking from the living room to the kitchen. I have begged her to go to the doc and have a heart cath done. Her mom died at 68 of a massive coronary. Mom is 67. She keeps saying she won't be around much longer. If I could get her to the doc, I would. But she is stubborn. I have tried to talk to her doc but he doesn't do anything cause I don't have medical power of attorney. She's on so many meds I am wondering if they are interacting with each other. I go over almost every day and see if they need help with anything. If I don't get over there, I call them. Anytime I am leaving to go to Princeton (about 45 minutes away) I will call and see if they need to go or if they need me to get anything for them. I worry about the all the time. But then again, I'm a worry wart. lol


sorry to go on about my parents. You have enough on your hands, you don't need to read about someone else's problems. I pray for you and Ken. I really pray the kids start spending more time with y'all instead of ending up regretting not spending ENOUGH time with him.

I understand that. My mom has been disabled since she was in her 30's due to multiple back surgeries.

Right now my cat is stalking the unseen through the front door.

Maybe there is a mouse outside. My cats watch out the door but they are not allowed to go out. We live on the major 2 lane road between 2 towns and I'm afraid one of the tractor trailers will stamp "Goodyear" on them. Course, Buddy, my 6-toed boy, got out about 3 years ago when I was installing the antennae on the back deck. I had left the living room window open so mom could yell and let me know when I got the channel in good. Never thought he'd jump outta the window as it is about 7 feet off the ground. Yep...he jumped. And the two dogs immediately started chasing him around the house with me chasing them yelling STOP! Buddy ended up climbing one of the porch supports on the front porch (after his 2nd dash around the house). I shut the gate to the porch and opened the front door. He made a mad dash in the house and hasn't wanted out since!

I love when they stalk noseeums..

Mom has had 2 back surgeries. She can't walk to good now due to the last one. I had my back surgery in 2009 in Roanoke. She was so impressed with my neurosurgeon, she said if she EVER has to have back surgery again, she was going to him. He is a no-nonsense surgeon. If he says you need surgery, you need it. If he looks at your slides and says you don't have to have it right then, you don't. He walked me through everything. Explained everything that was on the slides. I was amazed. I had never had a doctor talk to me like that. He's the best in my book.

No mouse. It was my juniper bush kitties (ferals that live under the bush). I couldn't see them but he could. Ferals have now been fed and watered.

Awwww! My grandma used to have feral kitties that she fed. When my sister and I were about 8 and 9, we decided to see if we could catch one of the kittens. Well, Sherry caught one! And it it bit and scratched her to pieces!!!

She was crying so hard, mom and dad couldn't understand what she was saying. It scared me to death! After that we never messed with the ferals!!

I think it's sweet you feed and water them. Maybe it will make them a little tamer. Hope y'all are having a good day today! Still praying for y'all.
