Lifted Scales But No Mites?

I found out it was Ivermectin.
Yes, Ivermectin should clear any mites up. But the bird is vulnerable to re-infestation if your flock has mites, so it's a good idea to change their litter and spray down the coop, including nests and roosts, to clear the problem up for everyone. Permithrin is a good product to use, but if you do decide to do it, follow directions on the bottle closely. You should also use vaseline treatment or Ivermectin on the rest of your flock but there will be a period where their eggs won't be safe to eat if you use Ivermectin. I believe you have to wait at least two weeks before eating them again. No wait period with he vaseline treatment.

I can't really think of anything besides mites that would cause this problem, unless it is just old age or a skin problem. But if it doesn't clear up after a while, get back to us, and we'll try to figure it out. Photos of the legs would help. Good luck-- I hope it all works out.

Thanks! Tomorrow I will be able to post pics!

I am about to acquire a hen that had splayed legs. She had her legs fixed but she has raised scales. Her feet are puffy and red. We scraped stuff out from under the scales and looked at it from under a microscope. We found no mites. Why are her feet like this? Does it have something to do when she had splayed legs? Her brother had it too but none of the other hens had got it. The owner offered to bathe her and take her to the vet and get her an injection to kill Scaley Leg Mites anyways.

The owner gave her medicine to get rid of Scaley Leg Mites. I don't know the name of it.
My other hens have it but not as bad. I am picking her up tomorrow so I can post pics then.
I also was wondering why I should only leave her in the cage for a few hours.

I found out it was Ivermectin.
Will also wait for photos:)

If it's Scaly Leg Mites and she's just been treated with Ivermectin, that will help take care of them. I would definitely put vaseline, castor oil, A+D ointment or Nu Stock on the legs to help them heal and smother any mites that may hatch out. (take photos of the legs before you put any of these on so we can see them)

You are going to quarantine her away from your existing birds for 2-3weeks aren't you? Do you have a place to put her for observation of illness?

I know there aren't any pictures of the legs yet because It was difficult and I will try to take some when I can, but here she is:
