I am new to this. I have a broody hen who has been sitting on seven eggs for twelve days. She will not get off the nest
to eat or drink so I have been lifting her off once a day. She eats and drinks a little and takes a dust bath daily but poops only
every third day. My question - I read somewhere that she should not be disturbed after the 17th day but surely I cannot
starve her for four days. Is it okay to continue lifting her off the nest to enable her to get some nourishment. I let her
walk back and settle down on the eggs.

Hi Jo'sGirls,

I don't have any answers.
I hope someone has some advice.

Try the broody thread - it's a great read and someone will be able to answer your question. I have a broody doing the same thing from what I can see. I haven't lifted her off the nest after putting her in the broody nest I put her in but it has only been 3 days now. I'm not sure that she's eating and drinking even though I put food and water next to her (there are little month old chicks that can get to the food and water too).
