I recently got light brahma chicks about 2 months ago and I was wondering when they would start laying eggs. I read it would take 7-8 weeks but I have had them longer than that it would be helpful if you knew when they might start laying

most pullets start laying at around 6 months of age, however it's not an exact science so it could be sooner or even later. When they are getting ready to lay their combs and wattles turn bright red and they may begin squatting when you walk by. This is a good forum to browse through for more info: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/18/chicken-behaviors-and-egglaying good luck to you.

When my brahmas get ready to start laying their pubic bones will spread to between 3 or four fingers width. Once they are that wide I can expect an egg any day.
