Light Brahma or Delaware?

I think both breeds are beautiful and would like to add one (both?) to my flock. We're in north Texas so hot summers, mild winters with some very cold days sprinkled in for good misery. Kept in a coop/run. I'd like to free range a little, but haven't worked up the nerve. My other girls are orpies, leghorns, and australorps - just fyi...

I'd like one that lays at least as well as my orpies do. Friendly. Any recommendations? Pros or cons of either breed?

Light Brahmas are excellent. I live in OK/AR but my flock is in Oklahoma. We get those awesome scorcher days too...with humidity to boot.

I have never lost a Light Brahma due to heat...yet my Leghorns dropped dead in the 90*s. Go figure?

All of my brahmas do well in the extreme heat. The brahma want a shady place to relax during the heat of the day, so in the summertime they are most active in early morning and late afternoon.
Mine are good layers. I average 11 eggs a day out of 14 hens.
While their eggs aren't huge in overall length, most are so fat around that the barely squeeze into the holes in a large egg carton.
I don't have any experience with the delawares.

My Delawares don't seem to mind heat and humidity, though I don't think it's quite as bad here as it can be in TX. They LOVE roaming the property (5 acres) for good bugs hiding in the grass, but if they were kept in a pen I'm sure they'd be happy too.
