Light brown Leghorn doubts

Definitely a rooster. Looks more like a Black Breasted Red Old English Game Bantam than a Leghorn to me.

As an FYI moving forward, OP, the tail feathers weren't the first/only indication....the black breast feathering is characteristic to the male bird (this applies to the brown leghorn you thought you were getting as well), females are salmon breasted. Since young birds feather in on the breast before they develop the gender specific tail feathering, breast color is your first indicator.

When I posted a few weeks ago she....I mean he, hadn't developed those dark feathers yet. Well the store we got them from were wrong about absolutely everything other than that they're bantams :p

Thank you all! Wow I thought we had at least two hens...only one. Oh dear. Now I need to find more ladies. Never buying from a feed store again, they were all supposed to be girl Cocchins and one Leghorn! Oh well, we still love them.
