these little ones were sold to us as girls - the light Sussex around a week or so older than the buff.

The buff’s legs are huge (and quite dark) compared to the light - it’s hard because they aren’t the exact same breed... but just curious if they would be that different and/or the likelihood of the buff being male? I tried to get a photo of them standing together but one was a bit sleepy!

They are too young to sex at this point. The comb on the buff one still looks small and pale so there's no indication of it being a cockerel, yet. Leg color has nothing to do with sex.

The buff is probably a Sussex, but he has green legs and Sussex don't have green legs, they have white legs. The light is definitely a Sussex. The gender is unclear to me. We may have to wait and see.

A heavy breed pullet can have some pretty stout legs. Wait for the comb to sprout (or not) over the next few weeks.

And just for giggles, let me show you my dear Agnes. This pullet chick was 4 weeks of age when I took these pics and I took them because her legs were RIDICULOUSLY thick. Not to worry, she laid plenty of pretty blue eggs.
