Light bulb in coop

I have 4 silkies and 3 cochins in their own run to keep the out if the rain. Do they need a light at night for warmth? It gets down to about 40 right now but will be in the 20s at night in the winter. If they do need one, white or red? What watt? Thanks!

I was just wondering if they have a coop too, or just a run? (Sorry if that seems like a dumb question.)

No. Not in North Dakota or Western Oregon. They do need a safe and secure coop at night for protection from rain, driving winds, and predators. But you need not heat it, nor their run. They are remarkably well insulated.
My only caveat is that maybe Silkies are different in this respect? I doubt it but I know nothing about them.

Agreed - for regular chickens, anyway. I would think that the Silkies would be OK in a coop out of the weather, and the chickens generally huddle together at night for warmth.
