All my chickens, guineas and peafowl live in the same building. I keep a small LED night light in the henhouse 24/7. It doesn't disturb their sleep but it helps them to get up on the roost if they happen to be on the floor when the light on a timer goes off.

Is it then frozen by the time you get home from work?
I leave my water heater running 24/7, tho it's controlled with a thermocube(on at 35°F and off at 45°)

Nah...only at night it freezes. During the day it's good
