The first one looks like a pullet. The second is a cockerel.

#1 is a pullet, #2 is a cockerel.

(A cockerel is a young rooster....and you can guess what a pullet is.)

Thanks! I've thought this since they were day-old chicks the second one was always bossier, I read light Sussex roosters tend to be a bit aggressive and need at least 10-12 hens. the rest of my flock is mainly silkies. would this be true in general?

You have a pair. A large Sussex rooster would be pretty rough on some little Silkie Bantams.... could end up with some injuries
