Hi again…2 light Sussex chickens….both 12 months. 1 laying like trooper the other bugger all. Yes she seems like a broody but goes a week or 2 of pure stubbornness laying in the nesting boxes even when no eggs. Then goes a month or so of normal behaviour and gets more red in her comb

doesn’t matter what we have tried the cycle continues.

picture of the 2 attached

thanks again for any help

Has she ever laid?

Is she on nest most the day and all night?
When you pull her out of nest and put her on the ground, does she flatten right back out into a fluffy screeching pancake?
Does she walk around making a low cluckcluckcluckcluckcluck(ticking bomb) sound on her way back to the nest?

If so, then she is probably broody and you'll have to decide how to manage it.

I break broody birds.
