I have a light Sussex chicken that's around 6 months old, big.comb but slightly smaller than some other breeds I raised with him. I haven't really seen him get active with any hens but I've seen one of the others try mounting him. I thought he was a roo but I'm now unsure of if he is a big her with a big comb.

He is really a she. At 6 months she is getting ready to lay and that is why her comb is so large and red. Beutiful bird! 😊

I'm not so sure that's a pullet. It has thick legs and a massive chest. Clear close up pictures of the saddle area would help determine its sex.
Don't have any other recent photos so would zooming in on the saddle feathers help?

At six months if it was a roo it would have a much larger comb and be mounting the hens.
I've seen them come into bloom later than that, especially English breeds like Sussex. I'm not saying it is a pullet but I think it warrants a little more attention to be sure one way or the other.

Cockerel, & he's not pure Light Sussex.

I did and can't see anything, but it's white on white, so that is very difficult to see. You can look the bird over yourself, though. Does it have the thin, pointed feathers in the saddle area? Take a close look and see what you think.

I can compare him to other breed of roosters I have.
