Light Timer Recommendation

...so many out there... can anyone recommend a good, not too expensive timer I can use with my outdoor coop light? What are you all using for timer/light combos???
I just want to provide more light this winter to promote laying.

I turn a 20w, florescent Light Stick on at 6 am and off at 9 then on at 4 pm and off at 9--all EDT. I figure this gives them 15 hrs of light in the same light/dark sequence that they'd get in the summer (we're at 13 hrs right now) Some people will add hours just in the morning, others just in the evening while some will burn them 24/7. The feeling is that this last thing burns the birds out. Just don't go too cheap on the timer--I can't remember what I paid for this one because I've had it for about 10 years(had to run down to the coop to check on the brand name), but wasn't the cheapest one and certainly has lasted.

I use a plug in lamp timer. It has 24 pegs for the hours. You plug it in and plug your light into the timer. Then u set the timer for the present time by twisting it. Then u set any pegs for the times u want the light on. Really easy. I've had mine for years too. Have used it for lamps and outdoor xmas lights. Just make sure u keep it dry as in all electrical connections.

I just bought an LED light stick at Walmart this morning for about $15. It came with a remote control so I can turn it on/off from the house. I don't have electricity to my coop so I'm hoping this will work for us. The light takes 6 AA batteries and the remote needs 3 AAA batteries. The light has 6 LED's and seems plenty bright enough.
