Light up the heat plate!

I'm aware that quail are not like chickens and can be active at night. So if using a heat plate in the brooder. In your opinion: is it better for chicks to have a period of darkness (like in the wild) or to provide light 24/7?

For instance will it have any effect on the weight of bird at 6-8 weeks and on their general health and well being?
 
I provide 24h light till week 5 ...it matters if you are focused on mass till week 8 for butchering.

Edit: I also use a heatplate. And I provide additional UV light in the daytime (about 14h), as my brooders are inside.

i give them the red heat lamp until they're old enough to not need it. then i plop them outside.
