Light versus Dark Brahma's

Looking at those pics I just gotta say....

Can't wait to get my brahmas! Can't wait to get my brahmas!

The Lights and Buffs are more popular. The Darks are hard to get to meet the standard on coloring if you show them from what I understand. I don't show so that's not super important to me. I just haven't seen Dark Brahma eggs advertised that much.

I looked for MONTHS trying to find Brahmas. I got lucky and correctly identified my Light Brahma in a 'Special Run' bin at a feed store. My Dark Brahma pair were also a fluke. A guy had advertised that he was selling all his animals including chickens. He told me he had a pair with feathered legs that were gray *haha*

Just FYI...
I plan on ordering all of my brahma chicks in the spring from Ideal. They (are suppose to) have standard size light, buff, and darks then. They were the only hatchery I've found so far that offered all three variations in standard size vs. bantams. All the feedback I've gotten on Ideal from this forum and chat has been very positive too. Of course, I'm not planning on showing my birds, just pets.

I'll have to check out Ideal as well, I looked at MM but noticed they were almost double in price, so wasn't sure exactly why...
Wrote them and waiting to hear what they say.

I consider Ideal a good hatchery. My local feedstores order from Ideal, and the chicks we got from there turned out great! That's where my Light Brahma came from, and so far the coloring meets the Standard.
