Our two new americauna's are about a week or two old. Is it "wrong" to have a regular light in there instead of a red one?

We started with a 40w because (this sounds werid) but that is what we used when we had snakes back in the day and it was pretty warm. I hope it won't cause them any problems.

I have a 60 watt. I use a cooler as a brooder with wire on top so it stays plenty warm. Sometimes a Red light is just to much heat unless you have a bunch of chicks.
You are fine. My chicks even move away from the light because they are warm.

All I have ever used were regular soft white light bulbs. Only had a problem once and that was my fault for letting them get crowded as they outgrew their brooder.
