We have a cross between Rhode Island reds and production reds. Up to a couple weeks ago all our eggs use to be a nice brown color. Now one of our eggs have been becoming lighter and lighter in color to the point where one today came out as like a ivory color with only a few darker spots...is something wrong with one of our hens or is it just because it's moving into the winter months....any help will be helpful...all our hens are under a year old having hatched during March I believe

There are a couple of possible things going on - the first is that you have a new layer that was previously not producing, giving the impression that an existing layer is laying lighter colored eggs, the second is that this is simply the natural progression of pigmentation in the laying cycle of an existing layer as eggs tend to start out dark and get progressively less pigmented as the cycle progresses, resetting after the "intermission" between laying cycles.

Yes - colored eggs are a breed characteristic of some breeds/mixed breeds.

If you post some photos of the birds in your flock we can identify the ones that are producing the pretty blue/green eggs.
