I’m using a room of our shop to raise our ducklings. I have a heat lamp to keep them warm, but should the lights (LED) be on during the day? They reached their three week mark today.

I like my ducklings to have daylight where possible. I first used a red heat lamp but soon changed to a ceramic heat lamp that didn't give off light. THat meant the ducklings got used to daylight and no light at night, although the natural daylight was supplemented by electric room light when I needed a light on in the house!!

I don't think it matters if they have heat lamp light 24/7; but if you use a light, rather than a heat lamp that gives of light, for your ducklings, you might consider turning it off for 12 -16 hours each day.

Even though my ducks have always had daylight/no lights, the pekins frequently get restless, move around and talk to each other at night!!! The muscovy sit down and are quiet at night.
