The overmated duck stopped laying in early June, so she's had a nice long break. And she was never underweight. The other ducks have had 2-3 months off, and the one who had less of a break also started laying later in the spring. (She was living with a flock that had very little winter light until her companions were eaten.) I think they're ready to be laying again.
My real question is simply how long I should expect to wait before finding eggs. They like to bury them in their bedding and I don't want exploding frozen eggs out there, but I don't want to spend weeks digging through the straw when there's no reason to think they're laying.
