Like a Old Western Hanging Mob

The evidence says you're wrong about that, and so do the police, who happen to know the details.

The best thing is for the public to stay OUT of the whole situation.

agree ....just like the old western mobs....

You're the only poster who is writing that sort of thing. If I read the other posters correctly, they are suggesting that the case needs proper investigation. The temporary stepping down by the police chief suggests that either he or his bosses agree.

According to what Zimmerman told local officers, he lost sight of the teen and was returning to his SUV when Martin approached him and they exchanged words. He said Martin asked if he had a problem, Zimmerman replied no and reached for his cell phone. He then alleges that Martin said "well you do now" and punched him in the nose.
Zimmerman said he then fell to the ground and Martin got on top of him and began slamming his head into the sidewalk. Zimmerman said he began yelling for help.
An individual can be heard screaming on the 911 audio, however, there's been a dispute amongst witnesses as to whether it was Zimmerman or Martin who was crying for help.

Fine, so why not have a proper investigation and see what results from that.

i'm going to set back and watch .....for the facts.....thats the problem everyone jump to the fact the younger man was black ,was the reason for the killing.

oh yes somenoe also saw the younger man on top of the older man, fighting him

While we await a proper investigation, may I ask, merely out of curiosity, if it's legal to kill with a handgun someone who is hitting you with his bare fists? I have an image, based on what has been written here, of a big man with a gun lying on the ground beneath a lighter man who is using his fists and a witness is watching.

several witnesses have stated in interviews that they head the KID screaming for help, only to be corrected by officers that "no, you heard Zimmerman screaming" The police dept has a long history of biased investigations, so yeah, the public NEEDS to be on top of this to make sure that a thorough and unbiased investigation is completed.
The police have said that he is not being charged under the stand your ground law, while at the same time the legal experts (including the drafters of the law) say that he is not covered under it. Why? Because he put himself into that situation! He got out of his car, went chasing after someone even though he had reported it to the cops and been told they were coming.

Now, in fairness, Martin wasn't the small slight kid who is shown in most of the pictures. He is over 6' tall and about 200 lbs.

Thaiturkey, yes it can be legal, depending on the situation. You will likely be charged and the courts will sort it out. Your lawyer will then have to show that you had reason to be in fear for your life (jumped from behind, threats that they had a weapon, etc) It will then depend on the jury's opinion of whether of not an average person would feel threatened in that situation.

In this situation, there were no witnesses just standing around. People were in their homes, heard the screams and gunshot, then went outside to investigate.

thai , yes if you have a 200 lb man smashing you head again a sideswalk , you could shoot them ,to protect you life.

no problem with a investigation.....but so far most people want this guy arrest.......without proof

I did not follow OJ, Jon Benet, Casey Anthony, or any of the other cases that were tried in the press. It's amazing to me how many people slam the press as inaccurate and biased then jump all over something like this.

We live under a system of law, not governed by the whim of the mob. Evidence has to be collected legally. There are restrictions on how evidence can be collected. That's called protecting our individual rights. It has to be legal evidence so it is not thrown out on a technicality. Someone is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Proven guilty means by judge and jury using legal evidence and an understanding of the law, not by the whim of the mob.

Charges cannot be brought until enough legal evidence is present to warrant it. There are time limits on how long someone can be held without formal charges being filed. Which level of charges to be filed needs to be determined, murder, manslaughter, or something else. Just because charges have not been filed yet does not mean they won't be. There are two different levels of evidence required to convict, beyond a shadow of a doubt or beyond reasonable doubt. The level of the evidence may dictate which charges can be brought and that may take time to determine.

You can set up a system where practically every guilty person that is caught is punished but a lot of innocent people will wind up punished if you do that. You can set up a system where an innocent person hardly ever is punished, but a lot of guilty people escape punishment that way. Our system is set up to favor the innocent, so hopefully more guilty people go free than innocent people are punished. Human beings are running the system. Human beings are not perfect and may make mistakes. Some are even biased or corrupt, but not all are. Our system is set up to try to minimize mistakes but when mistakes are made, those mistakes are to favor the innocent. In my opinion, there is no way you can set up a perfect system when you are dealing with human beings.

So go be outraged. Help fire up the mob to a frenzy. And hope the mob does not turn on you next time.
