Lilly's Life:

Chapter 25

“Are you sure it’s west?” Jaz asked me.
I nodded my head, “Just an instinct.”
“Alright well let’s go!”
Then we set off west, deeper into the woods. I kept stepping on prickly plants and it hurts! I have never seen this part of the woods! Maybe the world is bigger than I thought….
Me and Jaz kept searching everywhere for the raccoon, but no luck. It was getting towards the afternoon now.
Jaz stopped me while I was walking and nearly tripped, “What!” I asked annoyed.
“Shhh!” He whispered.
I looked around for the coon, ready for whatever ninja moves it puts on me!
“I hear something straight ahead.”
I squinted to try to see what was straight ahead. Then my eyes got wide. The raccoon! “It’s the coon!” I half-whispered.
“Shhh!” Jaz said again and I rolled my eyes. “We must think of a plan.”
“You mean you didn’t think of one before we left!?”
“I didn’t think that we’d….” He trailed off, I already knew what he was going to say. I can’t believe he had doubt. “Just lemme think and keep your eyes on him….” He went into thought. Several moments later he spoke, “Got it! Ok so just follow my lead.”
I nodded to him and he crept around the raccoon so his back was to us. I didn’t see Lacy anywhere…. Then all the sudden Jaz jumped on his back and dug his spurs into him. Since he said to follow his lead, I jumped on his back too and bit him with my beak. The coon yelped and jumped forward. I heard a scream, I wasn’t sure if it was mine or not. Then I saw a black and white tail. Lacy!
“Get her out of here! Run!” Jaz shouted to me while fighting off the coon.
“But Jaz! I don’t want to leave you here!”
“I can fight him off! Jus-just go!”
“But-“
“GO!” He yelled. Then I took Lacy and we ran east as fast as we could. We were practically flying.
“Come on Lacy!” I told her when I saw her slowing down. “What’s wrong!? We have to go! Come on!” I practically shouted at her.
“He-he scratched me when Jaz attacked him. And it hurts.” She stopped running, then I did.
“You can do it Lace! Where’s that brave girl that I know and love?”
She was panting, “I-I don’t know. Go on without me.”
I can’t believe she just said that! “NEVER, will I ever leave you, Lacy!” I tried picking her up. She was a light, so I put her on my back and started walking east. “Don’t worry Lace, the healer at the coop will help you.”
“Who’s the healer?” Lacy asked me.
“I-I’m not sure what the human’s name is, but she’ll help you. She’s a really good person.” I assured her.
Lacy didn’t respond but I didn’t care.
“Just a couple more minutes and I’m sure we’ll be at the coop!”
“Yay.” I could tell she was sleepy… or…?
“Come on, Lace, perk up!” I moved threw more bushes and we were finally at the coop. I set Lacy down and she was limp. “Lacy?” I poked her, she went pale. “Lacy? Wake up, were here!” She didn’t move.

Chapter 26

“LACY!?” I panicked. What if she’s dead!? I put my head to her chest. Her heart was still beating! But it was getting slower! “Don’t worry Lacy! I’ll get you to the Healer!” I picked her up and ran to the human house. Their door was already opened and someone was coming out of it.
“Nice meeting you neighbor!” The tall one said and waved her hand and walked down the steps. I raced up to the door and clucked. I didn’t wait for a response. I just rushed into the house.
“Ahh!” I saw the woman shut the door. “Jessie! One of your hens are in the house! Get her out please!” The woman yelled.
I hid behind a chair. When I peeked out I saw the girl.
“What?” She asked.
“Behind the chair!” I saw the woman point to me. I ducked behind it. When I peeked again I saw the girl crouched down, looking at me.
“Lilly!” Then she looked at Lacy, “Who’s on your back!? She doesn’t look too good!” She grabbed Lacy and took her away. I screamed for her. Hopefully the Healer will help her….
I still hid behind the chair. The girl didn’t come back for a while. Maybe she saved Lacy?
“MOM!” I heard the girl scream practically, “MOM! Come here! This poor girl needs antibiotics! She has a cut! She won’t live long! Go to the store and get the antibiotic!” I saw the woman rush out of the room. Then a few minutes later the woman put something on and went out the door. Maybe she forgot about me? Oh well, all I know is that they are going to save Lacy!
I peeked out again. No one was in this room anymore. I slowly came out and tried to find Lacy. “Lacy!?” I called out. “Lace?!” I looked in one of the rooms, nothing. Another, nothing. When I finally reached the end of the rooms I saw a brown box. No wait, two brown boxes! What kind of room was this?! Wait… this was the room I was in! I looked to the left of me and saw the girl. She had her hands on the table, doing something. Saving Lacy? I smiled. I knew I could trust her.
I went into the room. Maybe I could find Rose! I flew up to the top of one brown box. I peered in. Oh my gosh! Ginger! She’s sleeping in this box! I looked at her foot and it had a bandage around it. I could tell Ginger was coming out soon….
I jumped to the next box. The girl turned around and saw me. “Girl? What are you doing in here? You are suppose to be waiting out in the living room!” She turned back to Lacy and ignored me. Whew!
I peered in the box. I saw something move in it. “ROSE!”
