Lilly's Life:

Chapter 10

“What do you mean you can’t find her!?” Mom had big eyes.
“Umm… I just can’t! I looked all around the paths we take in the weeds and she isn’t there!”
“Oh no! My Rosie!” Mom exclaimed. “Let’s go look again!”
I rolled my eyes, I knew we weren’t going to find her there, I already looked but whatever.
We headed towards the paths and took different routes. When we were done we met up on the outside.
“See! She is nowhere!” I said to my mom.
Mom almost started crying. It seemed like she didn’t want to be a “baby” in front of me. But she wasn’t and isn’t.
“Mom, let it out.” I padded her back and gave her a hug. Finally she burst out in sobs.
“Where’s my Rosie!?” She looked up at the clouds like she was blaming them.
“Let’s go to Jaz. Maybe he’ll know. If he doesn’t let’s go to dad.”
Mom nodded her head and we went out trying to find the two roosters. We spotted Jaz just beside the coop but out in the weeds.
“Jaz!” Mom blurted out, “have you seen Rose anywhere!?”
“Um, no afraid not. What’s wrong, Hannah?” Jaz asked concerned.
“We can’t find her anywhere! We looked in the paths but she isn’t there. Last I seen her she was going to take a walk!”
“Hannah, calm ok? I’ll go out and look for her. In the meantime, have Matt protect my ladies. Tell him I trust him enough for him to hide them in this patch of wood ok?”
Mom nodded, “Thank you Jaz. I owe you.”
He then headed off.
“Mom, it’ll be alright, ok? He’ll find her and she’ll be ok. Let’s go under that pine tree and rest. You need it.” Gosh I have only been here for an hour and there’s already too much going on. Mom breaking up with dad and Rose missing. Fun, I thought being sarcastic.
When we got over to the pine tree, Ginger was there. Oh great. Ginger looked at me and glared then she looked at my mom and said in a whisper, “Girls let’s get out of here.” It’s weird how my mom didn’t hear her but I did. Maybe she wasn’t paying attention.
We plopped down on the ground and talked.
“Lil,” mom started to say, “what if he comes back empty handed?”
“Mom, don’t say such a thing. He’ll find her. Ok?” I wasn’t exactly sure on that though.
She didn’t say anything. I looked up and I saw my dad walking towards us with no girls around him.
“Hannah!” he shouted.
My mom looked up surprised to hear his voice.
“Mattie?” she said back.
“Yes. Come here.” She stood up and he gave her a hug and what seemed to me, a kiss.
“Mattie….”
“Don’t talk. I’m here for you no matter what, ok?” my dad tried to reassure her.
“Thanks.” She simply said.
“I love you.”
My mom backed up a bit. “What?”
“I said that I love you….”
“Oh, I love you too Mattie.” Then she gave him a hug trying to hide her face.
Then I spoke up, “Dad! You have to go protect Jaz’s ladies because Jaz went off to find—“
“Rose, I know. I heard….”
“Alright well I’ll go away to give you guys some privacy.” I headed towards the coop into the small patch of woods and nearly crashed into Ginger.

Lilly's Life:

Chapter 11

“Watch where you’re going gorilla!” Ginger snapped at me.
“Uh, sorry.”
“Ya you will be now once I get at you!” she exclaimed, “you’ll be sorry you even back-sassed me!”
“Ok then, well I’m just gonna go.” I simply said.
“Oh no you’re not! That was the last straw gorilla!”
“Pshht, I’m not scared of an old hen.”
Ginger gasped. “How dare you!” then she pecked me hard on the head.
I pecked her stomach and pulled a few feathers and ran off with them. She ran after me. I spit out the feathers and flew to a nearby tree.
“Ha! You are scared of me gorilla!” She laughed an evil laugh but she didn’t know my plan.
She began to walk away as if she just won something of great importance. Yeah, right. I waited till she was in the right spot. Then I sprung up and flapped down on her back and pecked her head so hard, she was bleeding. Then I got off and backed up a few feet.
“Oh my gosh! Look what you just did! You ruined my pretty scalp!” Her face was full of fury.
“Yeah, next time think about what you’re going to say before you say it, Ginger.”
“Whatever, you are sooo going to regret that!” she pranced off to her so called “friends”.
I then started to turn around and walk away when I saw my mom glaring at me.
“Uh, hi mom.” I said to her.
She tapped her foot. “What did I say, Lilly!?”
“Uh, not to fi—”
“Exactly! Once I came over here I saw you pecking her head. Violence isn’t the answer Lilly!”
“Oh so you just want me to be vulnerable? You want me to get hurt and not stick up for myself? Oh good to know mom.”
“No it’s just that—”
“NO! Mom, I’m sticking up for myself whether you like it or not.”
I walked away and I thought I heard her say, “Sorry….”
When I went past the coop and almost into the woods I couldn’t see her anymore. I relaxed a little bit and plopped down on the grass. Why didn’t she want me to stick up for myself? Is it cause she doesn’t me getting hurt? Well she should know I can stick up for myself.
I looked up at the clouds. It was a bright blue day out but it was soon ending because the nights come very fast. Where is Rose! I miss her so much…. I wonder when Jaz will get back.
I looked up again, “Rose….” I sounded desperate, “where are you? I miss you. Please don’t leave me.” A lump was in my throat and I could feel my eyes welling up. Rosie…. Then I bursted into tears.
