Lilly's Life:

Chapter 24

“LACY!” I screamed. Something had got her. I ran after her, I looked left and right. “LACY!?” Mom and dad were following me and they were shouting out her name too. “LACY!” I kept running around and around everywhere but couldn’t find her. “Lacy….” I dropped down and tears fell. I was on my side, unable to move anymore.
My parents came around the corner and saw me, “Honey! Are you alright?!” Mom said while hugging me.
I stared straight ahead. Motionless. I could just die right here. Everything is being taken away from me. Everything…. I could barely speak, but I tried. “Nu-nu-no.” My tears kept coming and soon enough my mom was crying. Why can’t I just have one happy and normal day? Why is this happening to me? Why?
“Come on. Get up, Hun. If you just lay here we’ll never be able to find her.” Dad said.
I nodded slowly, but it took me almost 10 minutes to just stand up straight. Mom and dad were on either side of me, hugging me while we went to the coop to tell Jaz.
“Lacy has been taken by something. We don’t know what because it happened too fast. We think it’s that darned raccoon.” My dad said to Jaz.
“Would you like me to search for her then?” Jaz asked, concerned.
Then I spoke up, “If you’re going to try to find her, I’m coming too.”
“It’s too dangerous, Lil.” My dad said.
I turned to him, “She is my best friend, I’m not gonna let anything happen to her. I’m going to find her whether you like it or not.” I narrowed my eyes.
Dad didn’t argue anymore because he knew there was no stopping me.
I turned to Jaz, “Let’s go.” I started to stand up higher, like I was invincible. Nothing could get in my way. We headed out for the woods, eyes peeled open twenty-four seven.
“Are you positive it was that raccoon?” Jaz asked me while still looking ahead.
“I’m almost positive. I think it took my best friend to hurt me. I think it wouldn’t kill her yet because it wants me.”
“Why would the coon want you?” Jaz said.
“Because he wanted me in the first place. Hard to explain really.”
“Alright, well let’s keep looking. Do you happen to know where his nest is?”
“Um, no.” I frowned, I thought maybe I could see it in one of my dreams bu-…. Wait a second….
“Darn. Well let’s keep looking.”
“Wait.” I put my wing out to stop him from moving. I looked around, “I might know where his nest is.”
“Really? Well where?” He asked.
I pointed west with my wing.
