Hi, my coop is almost finish. Long process with recycling of wood from play set. Anyway I was scrolling YouTube tonight and came across video of a homesteader Lime washing
(Painting with lime, water and salt) supposed to be great for killing and preventing bugs and mold for older wood. It did look pretty when dry, but water based so will wash off eventually.
Has anyone done this inside and out? Waste of time? Benefits?

Good idea! It seems like a beneficial material to use if the wash is in a dry place where it won't get damp, it would give a hardened layer of protection.

I would think beneficial for inside on the lower walls, waste of time outside. You'd mainly be preventing mites near where the chickens sleep, and filling in small gaps where insects might lay eggs. Sounds very beneficial and something I need to try where my chickens sleep. Mites are deadly to babies and hard to prevent.

Thinking about lime washing the inside of my coop and researching this just now. I see this is an older post. Did you ever do it? If so, how did it work out? Thanks.
