Limon hurt her leg

Interesting. My ducks walk over fine gravel and a small rock wall...then a yard of grass to get to their pool and grassy daytime enclosure everyday. I haven't had an issue with their feet. If I tried harder I could probably get them to walk a more round about way to avoid the harsher surfaces. Hm.

Maybe Limon is prone to having problems? she's 2.7 kilos now. Quite small. And she's had 2 bouts of respiratory infection. Maybe the meds make her bones not as strong? who knows. I'd love to see your flock sometime.

My first small flock was taken by a fox when I was on a remote trek for 2 weeks. The sitters let us down. Traumatising! Just recently started again after a few years break.

I wonder why she has had respiratory issues? What kind of bedding do you use? Some of the stuff they sell here is really dusty and can cause respiratory distress. After doing a lot of research, I decided against buying bedding until they were a bit bigger.

We aren't sure what caused the respiratory infection. We lost her sister and barely saved Limon when they were about 4 weeks old. Our water here isn't the best, so now we use bottled water. The babies had towels for bedding. The first vet missed the respiratory infection but our current vet saved Limon. She was so sick she couldn't walk.

Towels are safest for ducklings. You got that right! The water from the tap isn't good? What if it is boiled first? I lived in China for 7 years and had to boil water.

Can you share a pic of limon? Poor thing...lost her sister. It's a lonely life for a duck. I am trying to source more as well. Only 2 hatched so I live in fear 1 will get ill and the other will be all alone. I can't be with them all the time.
