Limp leg niacin recovery speed question

They sure are precious even wet ❤ Reason I asked if they could see each other is they may not accept her if they don’t know her. So you may have to do meet an greet for a few days.
Yeah she was with them the first week and a half but been side by side hearing not visual so I am not sure how they will treat her now. During bath time we pass the other ducks over her and let them smell touch each other briefly, I had 2 chickens with her for awhile but removed them once the cast went on so she has been alone.

Before putting her in with them cold turkey I'd let them all meet and greet on neutral territory even bath time might work. Even at the age they are they can view her and an outsider.
If its warm outside that may even be better make temp fencing and put the ones together inside or her inside and then let them meet through the fence. It's hard to believe they could not like her but you just never know.

Perfect. She prob is gonna have an inside outside home lol. Where we are keeping them now is a mudroom and has space we will see how she develops.

On a side note do you or anyone know what may have caused this in our big duck looks like someone pecking or biting new feathers coming in. Was not there last night but this morning wing has blood feathers looking bad. Should I put some betadine or bactine on ? Thanks

Yes put some thing on it. Little stinkers seem to like to nibble those new feathers coming in. You could also try some Blu Kote on it if they keep it up. It will make the feathers purple and might distract. It works great on chickens. Just beware it stains anything it touches.

I posted this separately but have not had any responses so I'll share back here:

so if you have seen or followed bandita the duckling she came with a broken and revealed leg mistaken for a few days as niacin issues. She had to have surgery to break and reset the fracture , cast is off today however she still needs lots of love and rehab.

So the doctor said she needs to be supported by the body and off the ground to allow her legs to dangle while just touching the bedding material, so that she will let the dangle leg heal and finish growing straight.

His idea was a box of some sort with holes cut in it for the legs and vent. Basically laying on the box with legs dangling.

I tries something but she pulls her good leg out and tries to flop.

We need her leg to heal so I am asking for ideas to hold her allow evacuation and let her heal.

I am envisioning a bandana type diaper like a puppeteer would use attached to a rod across her box.

But what do all of you think.

The goal is hold her comfortably in place off the feet in her bin?
Pics of cast and today's pics cast off , foot and leg had some bleeding and a little swelling of foot in the cast.

She needs this for the next 2 weeks.

Water therapy multiple times a day.

Thanks a bunch
