Limp leg niacin recovery speed question

Update : lil Bandita according to our Doc had a fracture that healed prior to us getting her or him. So he rebooked it and set the leg and should get us down the right path. I appreciate all the help so far on the forum and will keep everyone updated. Thanks again

Just an fyi for anyone who may read this my vet bill was 400 to break the leg and reset it and cast it.

That included the xrays office visit and a discount.
I had it dropped off at 11 and picked up same day at 330.

Our vet is an avian vet and exotic animals as well as some farm animals depending on the person.

So is it worth it for a 4 dollar duckling? May not be for some but for us def worth it if we can help it.

She is now eating and drinking normally again and now craving hand holding and attention.

Priceless.

Bless it’s heart! So the vet thinks this will take care of it? How long will the leg be like that? And I guess PT is after the cast comes off. Sweet little thing :love
Yes the vet said if I did not treat it the duck would prob survive and adapt, however he said that the other ducks and chicks would make its life miserable as they are programmed to get rid of the weak or injured as they attract predators. Life expectancy shorter than normal and prob not survive predators.

This fix should allow a full recovery and offer hopefully a back to normal leg to hopefully heal and provide a thriving life. If not it wont be worse anyways and no guarantees but he feels strongly this will fix it.

He does alot of rebreaks and corrections on birds.

Time in cast is 2 weeks and then off. Orders are keep it clean and no swimming and water other than drinking.
Maintain supplements and feed.

Does require propping up and care but nothing too crazy , just position food and water close by
