We have 9 month old female buff duck that has been limping, we cleaned the bottom of her foot with iodine & took this picture. The lump seems hard and swollen. Her other foot looks normal. Doesn't seem to hurt when we touch it

Doesn't look like bumblefoot, has no sore spot. I did prick it with a needle and no puss came out.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, started penicillin shots today and order some "foot soak". Without an open sore didn't think it could be bumblefoot. Thanks again for your help!

Bumblefoot rarely is an open sore. Most often it is a hard knot or cyst feeling lump with a tiny or large scab spot from the initial impact. Bumblefoot itself is an infection, basically a staph variety which can go septic and enter the blood stream and kill the bird. That lump should be drained at a minimum, flushed and a plug searched for and if found removed. Pack with antibiotic ointment (no pain reliever in it) and wrap duckie's foot while wound heals. Penicillin is fine but will do nothing for bumblefoot if there is a kernal or pug down in that lump.

Good luck with duckie.

PS: check the top of the foot over that lump as well...sometimes the stuff must be removed from the top or the side even though the lump is on the bottom.
