One of my ducks, Bee, is limping. She was fine this morning, but we noticed that at around dinner time she was hobbling around on one foot. I looked and the foot itself looked okay, she has one little brown spot on the bottom of it about the size of a poppy seed. I soaked her in epsom salt, pulled the tiny dot out, and disinfected it just so be safe in case it was bumblefoot. the interesting thing she has is that at the base of her toe where the nail grows there were these hard, small, black spurs coming out, almost like tiny nails coming from the big nail. I also pulled and disinfected these, and wasn’t able to get a picture of it as she was very stressed. I’m still not sure if these are the problem, they were both so small so I’m not sure if she hurt her ankle/leg, or what. I’m a first time duck owner so I don’t have a lot of experience to go off of, any thoughts about what it is/what I could do? Thanks all!

May I add a question here. I also as of today now have a limping drake. He was fine last night, today went to let them out and he wouldn't put any weight on his left leg. I assume it was a tussle in close quarters last night? So he has been sequestered to his own space. Given.rooster boost cell, niacin amd b comes. He has his own food and water. I had to put him in the pool but he won't get out. Can't fly or land.. I'm assuming they had a "fight". He's a big drake. Biggest I have, but doesn't start things he's who we call "the watcher". That's what he does, and is a very quiet calm duck.he kept am eye on all the ducklings when they were little. I am Hoping a few days rest will help. No obvious signs of trauma. Nothing broken or swollen. Both legs are same temp. I'm assuming a sprain. He doesn't wince or anything when touched and will let me.examime him. Any other suggestions would be appreciated from our knowledgeable crowd.

He's using it at least. Birds don't often show pain as much as other animals, I've flexed broken legs without even a flinch or peep from my drake.
I would wrap and brace it for a bit so that he can at least rest. I keep injured ducks on soft bedding with food and water really close so that they aren't using the affected leg too much. If he's using it just fine in a few days then it was probably only a minor sprain. But if it's fractured or broken you'll want to brace it so that the bones fuse properly.

@Everose than ks for that advice. Hadn't even thought of that. He tried to fly and walk a bit tonite when we were puting everyone away. I added two friends in the isolation pen. So he isn't alone . They are only about a half a pallet away from the others by chicken wire but I know how they bond. He seemed very interested in being with them but that's a lot of moving so we chose to keep him isolated in a smaller pen with friends water and food.. ill video tomorrow to show any progress. May I ask how to splint so he can still walk? Popsicle sticks and guaze tape?
