Limping Duck

Bath time in lukewarm water, Epsom salt and comfrey and arnica compresses (you can get the herbs online or at a health food store).

Thanks, I do her soaks in lukewarm water, and I have comfrey in my herb garden. I will add the comfrey and look for some amica.

I also have yarrow, melissa, eucalyptus, cornflower, lavender, and some mints in my herb garden. I started a small medicinal herb section next to my spice section of parsley, ciltantro, chives, challots, oregano, rosemary, and thyme,

I am so proud of you!

Comfrey is a good plant to have. If anyone complains that it is taking over, I try to gently suggest they simply need to harvest more.

Yeah. Can also dry it. Not as good as fresh but still useful. I am looking for more herbs for my garden. I also grow fruits, veggies, and have a rose garden.

I like to harvest some, let it wilt overnight, then soak it in warm olive oil for a half hour, then let it cool overnight, strain and put the comfrey oil in the frij. I did the same this spring with some dandelion flowers.

I am going to have to try that. I usually just hang dry my herbs for winter.

When should I start the water therapy? Should I give his leg some time to heal before doing it or start it right away?

I started right away. At first short sessions, then longer. I do it to help her keep her muslce tone, as well as giver her a chance to feel "normal". Being weightless helps get the pressure off the injury. Ebony showed no signs of pain or discomfort while in the water though. If your duck showes signs of being in pain, don't force it to swim, just let it bob in the pool and relax.

And I do the warm Epsom salt soak before swim therapy.

So with just a couple days of water therapy and salt treatment my duck is back to normal! Thank you all again so much! Should I still continue to do the treatment for a couple more days to make sure the limp does not come back?
