Thanks so much to everyone who’s chimed in. I will try laying off the extra feed and watch it closely. Hopefully if it is bumblefoot that it will come to a head soon so he can start healing. A fracture would be the better outcome given it won’t kill him. It’s so nice hearing from people who have a wealth of knowledge on this topic. Is the scaling something that should be worrying or just common with water fowl? I’ve noticed he’s had it in the past, but nothing ever came of it.

I wouldn't worry too much about the scaling right now. When there's swelling, that can happen. It should go back to normal after the healing is done.
