I have 1 roo and 5 hens. They are austrolorps and about 7 months old. One of my hens is limping pretty badly. I can't see any cut or bruise or anything that looks wrong on her leg. She has been limping for about a week now. Do you have any idea what is wrong with her? My roo sometimes is rough when mounting them but not often, and none of the other hens seem to be in any pain. Thanks in advance for any advice.

could she have hurt her leg jumping off the roost? or maybe the roo did hurt her they can be rough sometime. if theres not any swelling or hot areas then maybe just some rest time, where she's not using the leg so much. might even try soaking in epsom salt water[warm] they love a good soak. you can also get DMSO at tractor supply and rub the leg and foot with it. It helps with bruises, sprains etc.

My 9 month old roo is rough at times with his girls. He injured one of my 2 year old RIR hens. She hen no sign of injury other than a limp. She healed up just fine in about 5 days. My guess is he must have bruised her while mating.
