We have a 6 month old Leghorn rooster. He began walking in an odd way about 2-3 months ago. He started with kind or a hitler-type march (for lack of a better comparison) with his legs straight out when walking. After a few weeks he began alternate between the “March” and a limp/hobble. Now he has been trying to hold his right leg up and kid of clumsily hoping to move. We’ve also see him just “fly” to get from place to place. No obvious marks, cuts, scratches, etc. no bumblefoot... Any ideas on what it may be and how we help him?

Was he vaccinated for Mareks disease? Do his legs appear straight with toes with feet forward or to the side? Are toes curled under on the bad foot? Could you post some pictures of his legs while standing still from the front or back? A short video of him walking uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo with a link here might be helpful if possible. He could have a leg bone deformity, slipped tendon, injury, or even symptoms of Mareks disease.

No he was not vaccinated, but doesn’t appear to have Mareks - at least from what I’ve read. His feet are forward. I will attach a picture of the bottom of each foot. I will try to get other pictures as well.

This is a YouTube video I found of a comparable march - but as I said, it has progressed from this to his current state. *you may want to mute the video while watching...

Just a standard chicken feed crumble. We have 7 hens and 1 other rooster. They all eat the same food.

Can you tell us more about the food - what is standard chicken feed - is it layer feed, all flock crumbles? A photo of the bag maybe?

I would be interested to see what he looks like standing, from the front and back. Also a photo of his legs that show the back of his legs that include his joint.
