About 3 days ago I saw her limping as we were bringing the flock in for the night. We grabbed her and brought her in using the dog kennel as the infirmary. I see no visual wounds. The pads of her feet are seem fine. She steps leading with her left foot then her right foot comes and the leg bows inward and she shakes herself to a resting position. She can’t take more than two steps. I’ve read all the articles I can find. I have a call into the vet. But covid has the call response delayed due to limited in person appointments. Also I’m stupid and left her out of the cage briefly while I cleaned it. Turned my back for one second and the road island red was on her and injured the speckled’s comb.🤦🏼‍♀️ She is still eating drinking and talking. I also noticed a couple green spots on her leg but wonder if that’s just pigment. Thoughts

An xray would be very good to rule out a fracture. It also could be sprained. Keeping her in a small space, as you are, with food and water, to limit her movement would be good for a few days, and then assess her progress. A chicken sling with her feet off the floor may work to help her rest her leg while it heals, if she will tolerate it.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll see what we can rig up for her.

It’s getting worse. She’s acting like she has spraddle leg. She literally face plants when she walks and her legs go out from underneath her on either side.
