The huge one in Waverly IA should be on April 27th. I havent gotten the flyer yet but will post for sure as soon as I get it. There are a bunch of small ones around my area also and I will post those too when I get them. Jenn
Now, RepoBob, you have Kankakee... I will have to drive almost 5 hours to get to that one. It will be much larger the Waverly but Waverly is still pretty big. Jenn
Hey Brama, yes it is the same Waverly. You would be about 4 to 5 hours from Waverly from what I have figured. The spring swap is pretty big. I am planning on driving that to Kankakee IL to a swap sometime this summer. Waverly is only 2 times a year. People get there Saturday and camp if it is warm enough. Last April it was cool. With guineas you would probably be better off getting young keets and raising them then to get adults. You have to keep them caged for 6 weeks or so and they still might run off. Jenn
What kind of geese and ducks and turkeys are you looking for?
I could handle that drive I think, hmmm lol! So are most of the animals at the swap full grown then...? I suppose, seeing as it would probably be hard to transport chicks and keep them warm huh!
I want a pair of Sebastopol Geese, badly, lol! Or goslings I should say. I've found a couple places that have them, for around $45 a gosling, but you need to order 8-10 goslings. My best bet that way would be to get just two of the Sebastopol, and the rest, cheaper (but decent temperment) goslings. I have 5 ducks on order through Ideal, so I think I'm good with them(these are my first ducks, so I'm starting out small, lol) Turkeys, I wouldn't *mind* Bourbon Reds, Slate Blues, or Royal Palms, I think they are called. I may try some of the broadbreasted, and have them ready for Thanksgiving, but I wouldn't mind keeping a pair around the farm and not butchering them.
I'm just so excited about going to a swap. Never been to one for chickens. Got serious about this hobby last fall and have gone to one show, which was great. Seen some very beautiful birds but, I really am looking forward to seeing a swap meet. Don't really know what to expect but I still can't wait. Is Kankakee considered a large swap? I am assuming that there will be people there selling the hardware for this hobby as well as birds. Do people bring in used equipment to sell?
I have so may questions, just gonna have to wait til April.
