Why does this egg have blood in it?

I know it's unsightly but, don't worry too much unless it continues. Some, particularly younger hens have problems in the reproductive tract but usually it resolves. It's actually a blood vessel in the reproductive tract that's weeping a bit. Maybe as simple as this is a bigger egg than normal for this hen.
Thank you very much!Just a blood spot. It might be a one off (especially if this is a newer or younger layer) though for some hens it may become a regular thing. It's safe to eat but if it bothers you you can pick it out before or after cooking.
